Realizing and living into this truth has changed my life in the most AMAZING ways … and I bet it can for you too! You HAVE thoughts. You HAVE emotions. YOU are NOT your thoughts. YOU are NOT your emotions. “A thought is harmless unless we believe it.” writes author on self-inquiry Byron Katie, “It’s not our thoughts, but our attachment to our thoughts, that causes suffering. Attaching to a thought means believing that it’s true, without inquiring.” she concludes.

It seems we have 12-60,000 thoughts a day. That’s A LOT of thinking! The CRAZIER thing is research shows as much as 98% are the SAME as we had the day before, and most troubling, 80% of our thoughts ARE NEGATIVE! Can you see why it’s vital for us not to attach to or identify with our thoughts? Instead, hold them at a distance. Be curious about them. Ask where the thoughts or feelings came from. Why are you telling that story or drawing that conclusion or feeling that way? Certainly some are useless clutter to be quickly cast aside, but others are like treasure maps, waiting for you to uncover their secrets. What’s more, pick positivity. Remember you ARE enough. You ARE beautiful. You ARE amazing. You ARE Light. You ARE Love.

The more you dissociate from your thoughts and feelings by observing them as the third party you actually are, and asking them questions like an investigative reporter, the more you can choose life-giving positivity and the quieter your mind will get. By doing this, you’ll become more in tune with something Divine. This positivity and calm will make you more full of Light and Love, which , by the way, is your True Self.
