A tendency … no, an illness in our society I’ve noticed is we suffer from victimhood. We’re told we need a perfect mate to experience real love, the president is to blame for our financial issues, and happiness is found in possessions, money, and status. Check out what Neil deGrasse Tyson, a famous astrophysicist, has to say about this predicament: “The problem, often not discovered until late in life, is that when you LOOK for things in life like love, meaning, motivation, it implies they are sitting behind a tree or under a rock. The most successful people in life recognize, that in life, they create their own love, they manufacture their own meaning, they generate their own motivation. For me, I am driven by two main philosophies, know more today about the world than I knew yesterday. And lessen the suffering of others. You’d be surprised how far that gets you.”
I imagine something in you resonates with Neil’s words, because if you need someone to complete you, look for love in other places, and search for bliss outside of yourself, you will inevitably end up unsatisfied. YET, when you realize you ARE love, joy lives IN you, and peace is never more than a breath away, things get interesting and AMAZING. While I largely agree with what Neil says, I’d modify it slightly, instead of CREATING love, meaning, and motivation, I think we DISCOVER or RECEIVE the GIFT of Divine love, value, and belonging that’s already in us. This gift is ongoing and never-ending, as meaning, peace, bliss, and love are infinite currencies in the Spirit’s Economy. The beauty of this is our success in life, our living into our purpose isn’t measured by what we do or don’t do, we simply are WINNERS for being alive!
With all this in mind, my invitation to you and I today is to live more in alignment and better in tune with what’s already TRUE about us: YOU are worthy … period. YOU are love and have it to give and receive from others … period. YOU are loved by Goodness beyond our fathoming … period.
