In telling my story lately, my eyes have been opened to two key words in my life: Lack and Enough.  While insecurities bias me toward a space of lack, wherein I find my worth in the number of students in my classes, the amount of “likes” on social media, the volume of tasks I get done, and so on; resting in the Truth, though, allows me to realize that, like you, I’m MORE than enough just as I am.  I’m often subconsciously driven by the question, “How do I compare?”, and I don’t think I’m alone.  Yet, what if together we downloaded a new question to guide us: “How may I be of service?”

Yoga, Christianity, Judaism, and many other traditions point out one of the most beautiful things we can practice is “selfless service”, which yoga names Seva.  But what is “selfless service”?  Given life is a team sport, we’re part of one human race, we are interconnected and interdependent, and the Love which birthed us names us ALL equally children of heaven, I’d say “selfless service” is a mutually beneficial endeavor in which ALL parties are blessed from a person’s giving, sharing, and caring from a spirit of togetherness.

Whether our service is for the environment, children, family, our self, the community, a social justice cause, or what have you, we’re truly ALL better for it.  So, today I invite us to be guided, at least in part, by the energy of “How may I be of service?”
