What do you do when you feel defeated or deflated?  While the positivity I generally radiate is 100% authentic, I occasionally wonder/think: “Why do I even bother?  Why do I spend hours writing posts and blogs to encourage and increase Love when it seems like barely anyone cares?  What’s wrong with my yoga teaching when the size of my classes are small compared to others?”  Even though this is a minority experience for me, the struggle is still very real, and crippling.  Especially when a friend shares a pic with inspiring words, like I do, and gets 40-50 times MORE likes than I EVER do!  While writing this I came up with an acronym for 4 practices I find help recenter and return me to the Light: OPEN.

Open your eyes to beauty.

Parent yourself.

Embrace vulnerability.

Never stop cheering.

Opening our eyes to beauty means looking for, remembering, and savoring the splendor of architecture, acts of kindness, blessings, the delights of nature, and the abundance of goodness all around and within.  When we parent our selves, we give our selves the encouragement and cheerleading a good parent or friend would.  We remind ourselves our inner critic is an inner-A-hole who obviously woke up on the wrong side of the bed, while our essence is Light and Love.  To embrace vulnerability is to get the funk out of us by sharing our struggles, failures, fears, doubts, and anxieties  with friends, family, and social media.  Because life is best done authentically and together!  Finally, I encourage us to never stop cheering for both our selves and others, because verbal (and physical) hugs, pats on the back, and other forms of celebration nourish and enliven us at a deep level.

What do you think?  What do you do?  I hope my musings aid you on your journey.  Cheers to YOU!!!
